“What if we turned this place into a farm?”
Vince Samford
The original property.
The property which would one day become Rooted Acres had sat untouched for several years. The land had become overgrown, and a small home on the property had sat abandoned for at least 6 years. Here is a look at the property in early 2021.
December 2021.
After several starts and stops, we closed in on completion of the land excavation in preparation for the first growing season in 2022. The house was gone, the ground was (mostly) bare, and plans for spring were being made!

Midway through demo of the house.

The old house used to be in this clearing

Our first growing season.
Many lessons were learned and many groundhogs were captured throughout our first year in 2022.

Starting peppers and tomatoes in late February

First seeds in the ground in March! (peas)

A nice rendering by the children, very lifelike!

First transplants in the ground in April.

Much of the time spent this summer was in prepping new beds. So many rocks!

The "Florida weave" tomato trellis system.

One of 10 groundhogs that paid us a visit throughout the season!

Salad greens performed very well!

Just for fun!
